MC Quyen Linh joins "Pay attention to the liver before it is too late" campaign

On August 8th 2017, Traphaco JSC officially launched the campaign called "Pay attention to the liver before it is too late" with the cooperation of well-known master of ceremony Quyen Linh at a ceremony in the town of Sapa, Lao Cai Province.

The event was held in collaboration with the People's Committee of Sa Pa District. MC Quyen Linh is chosen as the representative face of the campaign. Quyen Linh has been widely known among Vietnamese audience, particularly the farmers, through many television programs for the farmers. Therefore, his image will be a bridge to help spread the campaign more widely, to raise awareness of the people at the risks to the liver and the severity of liver diseases.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huy Van, Deputy General Director of Traphaco JSC, liver diseases are classified as the most dangerous diseases, leaving many consequences for not only the patients but also the whole society. In Vietnam, about 10 million people are infected with liver diseases and more than 10,000 new cases of liver diseases are recorded in the country each year.

The increasing environment pollution, the use of unsafe food, the abuse of antibiotics, the unreasonable eating and living habits, especially the overuse of beer and alcohol are considered the risks to the health of the liver and the quality of life of many people. Recognizing that fact, with the mission of taking care of public health, the campaign "Pay attention to the liver before it is too late" was launched as a call for people to raise awareness and to strengthen community attention on the health of the liver.

Talking about the campaign, Quyen Linh said, he joined the program with the purpose of calling for people to care for their health, especially their liver, and to be more conscious in the use of alcohol. At present, many Vietnamese people are not really interested in protecting their liver, while if a family member catches liver disease, all members of the family and also the whole society will be affected. Quyen Linh hoped that this campaign will not only help people improve their knowledge on health protection but also be a motivation to promote the consumption of local medicine of good quality, which are produced from clean materials in Vietnam.

Actor and MC Quyen Linh also urged people to protect their health and their families by doing practical actions such as playing sports and taking safe food. He also joined members of the organizing board and Traphaco officials to visit the safe herb planting area of Traphaco in Sapa and Bac Ha district of Lao Cai province. He also worked together with local farmers on the field of artichoke. Also, MC Quyen Linh and officials of Traphaco talked with the local people about their daily life and the change in life since they shifted from planting maize to growing artichoke.

At present, Traphaco has 60 hectares of artichoke in the districts of Sa Pa district and Bac Ha (Lao Cai province), with a yield of 2,200 tons of fresh herb per year, helping to reduce poverty for 156 households, with 1,300 people, of which 80% are ethnic minorities.

The area devoted to female ginseng (Angelica sinensis) in Bac Ha district is about 10 hectares, with the output of 6-10 tons of herb per year and the area of Ampelopsis cantoniensis in Sa Pa and Bat Xat districts is more than 35 hectares, yielding 70-100 tons of dry herb per year, bringing about a substantial income for 350 households in the area.

All of the above-mentioned medicines are collected by Traphaco JSC. The company also provides technical guidance and seedling to the farmers, ensuring the sustainability of the chain of “four parties”: the state - the farmer - the scientist - the farmer.  According to the local authorities, the cultivation of artichoke brings about high economic efficiency, which is 14 times higher than rice cultivation.

On the same day, Quyen Linh also visited and presented gifts to students at Sa Pa Primary School 2.
